My story with comics!
I've grown up with comics, starting Brazilian and Franco-Belgian comics since I was very little. I learned to read with Asterix, Lucky Luke, Turma do Pererê and obviously Turma da Mônica. Also some satirical Brazilian comics from my dad's collection that I didn't really understand and probably shouldn't be reading, but, as far as my parents were concerned, as long as I was showing interest in learning to read that was greeeeeat.
Later, I started reading mangá, and we all know there's no way back from there. The first mangá I ever read was Love Hina, then a lot of CLAMP, Rumiko Takahashi and all that good stuff. At some point around 2000, speed-dial internet arrived and I had my first encounter with a webcomic, Combo Rangers. An interactive flash comic with basic ass animation really was the pinnacle of technology.
As a child and pre-teen, I was always drawing my silly little comics on paper, including a very chuuni mahou shoujo series I created with a friend before even knowing what was a zine. At some point I started doing digital comics on Neopets (screenies.... I still have them saved btw), and I always had ideas for larger stories cooking somewhere on my mind.
I grew up, got on university for design, posted some short strips on deviantArt and insta, worked with some educational short comics, at some point got obsessed with MTMTE/LL (which was actually the first USAmerican-published comic I really liked... the author is british tho?). I made a small printed comic for my final university project. I don't think I'll ever upload it, it looks really crappy since it was my first real try for a comic, but it did it's job, I graduated and that's all that matters lol
Anyway, in 2017 I started my first long webcomic series! And I'm still working on stories on that same universe, as well as the occasional unrelated short comic, or more Neopets silly comics. You can find them linked around here somewhere!
So yeah, I have always loved comics and they are probably my favourite way of... Communication? Expression? Narrative?... You know what I mean. Art is complicated to define. But I'm always excited to create more, read more, and meet more people who also love this universe!
